The Nutrition Society invites applications for the prestigious Mike Gibney Early Career Award, recognising exceptional emerging leaders who are translating nutrition science into meaningful real-world impact. Established in honour of Mike Gibney, the award celebrates innovation, collaboration and leadership across academia, industry, policy, public health and education.
The award acknowledges early career researchers and professionals who demonstrate excellence in advancing nutritional science and its application. Particular emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary working, knowledge exchange, external visibility and demonstrable impact on practice or policy. Applicants must be current members of The Nutrition Society and normally within six years of completing their most recent relevant qualification, with allowances for career breaks.
The recipient will be formally recognised at the Society’s Summer Congress, held 21–24 July 2026 at Newcastle University, where they will deliver a keynote lecture. The awardee will also be invited to contribute an article to the Nutrition Society Gazette, further showcasing their work to the wider community.
Applications require a full CV and supporting statements outlining achievements, impact, collaboration and professional engagement.
The deadline for submissions is 13 April 2026. Early career professionals are strongly encouraged to apply and gain recognition for their contribution to the future of nutrition science.
